| BEAVER CHEW STICK DISCOVERY KIT (Introductory Kit). Acorn Naturalists. Found throughout North America, beaver are one of the most widespread of all rodents. A key sign of beaver are the loose chew sticks occasionally found in storm debris downstream from active beaver sites. Because these sticks are collected randomly downstream from active beaver sites, the chew sticks in this kit vary in size (averaging 3-4" in diameter), age (some are fresher and lighter in color, some worn and darker from being submerged), and in species represented, but all show characteristic beaver gnaw marks. These are not twigs, but rather large chew sticks that average 3" in diameter by 9" long. Some have bark, others don't. This kit contains two large beaver chew sticks, beaver chew chips (found at the base of previously chewed trees), and an activity guide with information about beaver ecology and biology, activities, glossary of terms and black-line masters for class activities. Comes packed in a convenient storage box. This kit can also be supplemented with the beaver skull replica we offer, beaver track molds and casts, scat replicas, puppets, books and the Beaver IMAX DVD. #KIT-19243.
