PRICE: $29.95

Resource Description
COYOTE CHEW AND SCAT SIGNATURE DISPLAY (Animal Signatures® Clue Display). Acorn Naturalists. Just as we learn to identify the handwriting of others, we can learn to read signatures left by wildlife. This unique 6” x 8” glass-topped display provides real examples of these animal clues from wild areas and even parks and school grounds. With this display, students learn how coyotes consume succulent fruits, leaving strips of fruit (such as this red opuntia fruit or prickly pear) and seeds on the ground along with telltale opuntia seed-bearing scat. Samples have been hand collected; scat replicas are cast from field samples. Ages 9–adult. #T-22041.

Mix or match any 10 Animal Signatures® Displays to receive 10% off!

Additional information: (quoted from the label on the back of the display)

"Although classified as carnivores, coyotes are opportunistic omnivores; when delicacies such as cactus (Opuntia) fruit are in season, coyotes often feast on them. The fruits in this display have been arranged to demonstrate the signature a coyote leaves behind after enjoying its meal—small clumps of fruit skin and seeds left after it slurps up most of the fruit. Coyote scat, too, offers clues into its feasting forays. Look carefully and you will see bumps in this scat replica from seeds that passed through its digestive system."
