Assemble your own habitat dioramas! Created by Acorn Naturalists, these kits feature generous selections of habitat-appropriate rocks, leaves, logs, and substrate for a realistic appearance. The sets also contain original line-drawings of background (to be colored in), extra blank cards for creating more scenes, and “animal clue” items to add interest and intrigue. You can customize these hands-on displays with locally collected resources. The kits also provide several hand-painted, phthalate-free animal models commonly seen in each habitat. All models and natural materials are packaged in custom-designed and stained wooden boxes with sliding lids. Turn the boxes on ithe side to create the “theater” for each diorama. Instructions and suggestions for supplemental activities are included. This collection includes Arctic Tundra, Barnyard, Desert, Evergreen Forest, Hardwood Forest, Meadow, Oak Woodland, Pond & Stream, Prairie, Seashore, Southern Forest, and Urban habitat kits. Create-a-Scene® kits are recommended for children age 8 to 13, with adult supervision.
