Acorn Naturalists now offers a wide selection of tree limb cross sections. These quality rounds range in size from 2" to 5" across by 1/4"-1/2" thick and allow for clear reading of growth rings. Tree rings vary in size and appearance depending on growing conditions and species variations. Oak species can be easily identified by their characteristic radial rays, pine and walnut and oak show classic seasonal dry/wet ring patterns, walnut shows classic dark-colored center. Tree rounds provide an ideal hands-on resource for introducing students to botany, forestry, dendrology and methods scientists use to determine past climatic conditions. Acorn Naturalists offers a varied selection different tree rounds of both eastern/midwestern as well as western species, Also available is a bark beetle life cycle demonstration kit and two tree round discovery kits (eastern and western).

This section features complete kits for creating beautiful pine needle baskets.
 
  Leaf Replicas for Leafprint Art
Actual imprints of leaves that have been cast in flexible vinyl for use in creative art projects or as an aid in plant identification. Press with different colors of stamp pads or roll on different colors of block inks to make leaf prints using a brayer. These leaf replicas range from 5" - 9” in length.
 
  Block Inks for Leaf Prints
These specialty inks are ideal for making perfect leaf prints on any kind of paper. Unlike many other printing inks or paints, these wash off easily with soap and water. Now available in a rainbow of colors. Mix colors to make your own shades! Each 37 cc tube will ink about 30-40 leaves. To expand design options, we also carry ink extender (increases transparency) and ink retarder (slows drying time).
 
  Papermaking Kits
This section contains several different kits for making paper from a wide variety of recycled materials. Also books and supplies for papermaking.
