Bringing Education Outside - Activities and Guides
This section contains a wide selection of activity guides, outdoor curricula, mapping activities, leadership manuals and specialty resources for teaching outdoor education.

  Acorn Naturalists Outdoor Exploration Packs
Acorn Naturalists Get Outdoors!® Field Packs are designed for children ages 7-11. Each contains a selection of books and equipment related to the topic. Packs are designed as "starter kits" that initiate interest in the field while teaching basic observation and identification skills.

Experiential Education - Learning for Life
Camps have long known about the transformation that takes place when children participate in experiential learning. This form of education is beginning to be recognized by mainstream schools as a means of increasing student interest in learning about their community and environment. This section includes both books on experiential learning theory as well as implementation.

  Orienteering Tools and Techniques
Features a wide selection of materials for teaching orienteering, including instructor kits, compasses, GPS systems, and training manuals.

Outdoor Game, Track and Scat ID Bandanas
Fun way to turn any outdoor activity into a great adventure. These durable, washable, 20 inch square scarves are perfect for “breaking the ice” when visiting the woods, fields, desert, prairie, lake, or beach. Perfect for naturalists, teachers, camp leaders, parents and children. Activities involve observations, scavenger hunts, clue games and identifications. Over a dozen different game designs are available in addition to our ever-popular track and scat identification scarves. Ages 6-adult.

  Tracking Stencils
Based on real tracks, these life-size mylar stencils are precision cut to produce a perfect track outline. Each tracking stencil set includes one action stencil for creating common movement patterns and two single stencils representing front and hind feet (except for bird species which come with an action stencil and one track stencil). Stencils can be flipped over to create both right and left-sided prints. Each set also contains a natural history reference sheet that describes the animal’s ecological status, habitat, body shape, behavior, and diet along with illustrations of one or more track patterns. Also included are suggestions for classroom and group activities. Use these stencil sets to create life-size track scenes to help illustrate predator/prey relationships or identify gaits and patterns. Create customized field guides, or augment journals or art projects, use for embossing, creating track positives or making life-size animal track matching games. Packaged in a reusable clear bag, these stencils work well with regular or colored pencils, paints, watercolor pencils, charcoals and chalk.

Nature at Night - Activities for all Ages
With appropriate guidance, children are fascinated by the outdoors at night. This section offers activity books that help interpreters, teachers, students, camper leaders and parents explore the diverse forms of life that emerge after sundown. For a complete selection of nighttime astronomy activities, simply type in the word astronomy in the search area at the top of each page.
