Built for long-term field or classroom use, this set includes a bottom collection pan, lid, four sieves (5,10,60,230 mesh) and teacher’s guide with instructions. With these professional sieves, precise mesh sizes allow for accurate characterization of soil texture and composition. #T-4190. Note: Mesh size 5 will allow particles smaller than 0.15 inches (3.8mm) in diameter to pass through (medium gravel will not pass through); mesh size 10 will allow particles smaller than 0.075 inches (1.9mm) to pass through (small gravel will not pass through); mesh size 60 will allow particles smaller than 0.0092 inches (0.23mm) to pass through (medium sand will not pass through); mesh size 230 will allow particles smaller than 0.0029 inches (0.074mm) to pass through (silt and clay will pass through).
