| PROFESSIONAL GRADE SCREEN SIEVES (SET OF SIX SCREEN SIEVES). Built for long-term field or classroom use, this set includes a bottom collection pan, lid, six sieves (Mesh sizes = 5, 10, 35, 60, 120, 230) and teacher’s guide with instructions. These sieves allow for accurate characterization of soil texture and composition. #T-8331. Note: Mesh size 5 will allow particles smaller than 0.15 inches (3.8mm) in diameter to pass through (medium gravel will not pass through); mesh size 10 will allow particles smaller than 0.075 inches (1.9mm) to pass through (small gravel will not pass through); mesh size 35 will allow particles smaller than 0.0214 inches (0.54mm) to pass through (coarse sand will not pass through); mesh size 60 will allow particles smaller than 0.0092 inches (0.23mm) to pass through (medium sand will not pass through); mesh size 120 will allow particles smaller than 0.0047 inches (0.12mm) in diameter to pass through (fine sand will not pass through); mesh size 230 will allow particles smaller than 0.0029 inches (0.074mm) to pass through (silt and clay will pass through).
