| RESOURCES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL LITERACY (All Five Modules). Environmental Literacy Council, NSTA. Superb collection of five science modules for middle and high school teachers. Each module presents historical and current events as the context for learning, with goals drawn from the Benchmarks for Science Literacy and the Standards. Two modules for grades 6-8 (Biodiversity and Global Climate Change) and three for grades 9-12 (Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Tsunamis; Genetically Modified Crops; and Radioactive Waste). Each module includes background content for teachers organized into sets of “essential questions”, student activities and materials you can adapt to individual classroom needs. These units serve a dual purpose—they improve students' ability to think critically, while helping them develop knowledge to deal with important topics that affect their lives. Modules can also be purchased separately. #B-15706.
