Great Horned Owl Pellet

Similar to barn owls, great horned owls "cough up" pellets consisting of undigested bones and fur. However, unlike barn owls, great horned owls are known to hunt during the day as well as night. Great horned owl pellets are much harder to locate than barn owl pellets, but there is much more variation in their contents. For this reason great horned owl pellets are often used as an additional pellet, supplementing traditional barn owl pellet dissections. Our pellets are wrapped in foil, heat-treated, and carefully stored in sealed plastic bags. Great horned owl pellets generally measure 2" to 3" long.
