Introduction (from the activity booklet that comes with this kit):
The bobcat is the most widely distributed wild cat in North America, ranging from southern Canada to southern Mexico. Named for its short bobbed tail, the bobcat is smaller than a lynx, but much larger than a house cat. Equipped with keen eyesight, it often uses a lookout tree to survey the land by day and a lookout on the ground to crouch and wait for prey by night. Climbing, crouching, or taking down a meal, a bobcat relies on powerful muscles to carry out its activities. The bobcat may be small, but it has been known to hunt prey as large as deer. This solitary cat lives in a variety of habitats, including places that are close to human activity. If prey is plentiful, a bobcat may only roam half a mile in a day. If the pickings are slim, it may travel as much as 50 miles in a day. It’s all a function of food supply. Kit contents : puppet; bobcat rubber stamp; bobcat track and claw replicas; book about cats; bobcat model; Forests sticker book; blackline masters; set of brad fasteners; and a bobcat activity guide.
