Fruit Types Display

This 12” x 16” glass-topped display reveals the tremendous diversity and structure of various seed-producing fruiting bodies. Nineteen different, fully labeled specimens represent the 11 most common fruit types. Specimens include the nut (acorn, pecan, cocklebur), samara (maple, ash, elm), loment (Desmodium), silicle (shepherd's purse), drupe (gum), berry (pokeweed), legume (rattlebox, mimosa), capsule (trumpet vine, liquidambar), caryopsis (wheat, foxtail), achene (sunflower), and aggregate (sycamore, osage orange).
