Solitary Bee House
Solitary Bee House
This bee house provides nesting for one of nature's best pollinators—native bees! Of the more than 20,000 species of bees, two of the most common are the blue orchard bee and the horn-faced bee. One-half to two-thirds the size of a honey bee, these passive bees will lay eggs in the chambers drilled into this bee house. The eggs remain dormant through the fall and winter, and offspring emerge in the spring to pollinate plants. The rough, unpainted wood surface allows bees to grip and crawl inside as they would in natural settings. Simply hang the bee house on a fence or tree in the garden — it requires no maintenance.
