This expansive resource focuses on basic ecology concepts, explored from a variety of disciplines during a four to six week unit of study. While the lessons and activities are designed to culminate in a field trip to the seashore, they nevertheless can be used with landlocked students to increase understanding of marine ecology concepts. Chapters cover seashore organisms; basic ecology concepts associated with seashores, tides, tidepools, and predator/prey relationships; plankton; sandy beaches; rocky shores; tidal fluctuations; and people and the sea. A set of clue cards is also available to enhance lessons (see Related Products, below).
