Pocket Monocular (7 x 18mm)

This handy, medium-power monocular offers a field of view of 472 feet at 1000 yards with a minimum focusing distance of 10 inches. The optical quality and reasonable price make this an excellent choice for a field monocular. The monocular measures 2½" x 1¼" and weighs only 1.8 ounces. 

What do those monocular numbers mean? Most monoculars are described using two numbers: this monocular is 7 x 18. The first numeral refers to the magnification, or “power.” An object seen through the monocular will be magnified seven times the size when viewed by the naked eye. The second numeral refers to the diameter of the objective lens, which is the end of the monocular facing the object to be viewed. The larger the numeral, the greater the diameter of the lens, and thus the more daylight entering the barrel of the optic to illuminate the object. Monoculars are also described by “field of view.” This model’s field of view of 472 feet at 1000 yards means that when you are viewing objects 1000 yards away, you will have 472 feet of horizon in your field of view.
