Professional Grade Screen Soil Sieves (Set of Four Sieves)

Built for long-term field or classroom use, this high quality sieves set includes a bottom collection pan, lid, and a teacher's guide with instructions. Many inexpensive sieves are highly inaccurate. With these professional sieves, the mesh size is identified, allowing for characterization of soil texture and composition. This set of four includes 5, 10, 60, and 230 mesh sizes.

Mesh size 5 will allow particles smaller than 0.15 inches (3.8mm) in diameter to pass through (medium gravel will not pass through); mesh size 10 will allow particles smaller than 0.075 inches (1.9mm) to pass through (small gravel will not pass through); mesh size 60 will allow particles smaller than 0.0092 inches (0.23mm) to pass through (medium sand will not pass through); mesh size 230 will allow particles smaller than 0.0029 inches (0.074mm) to pass through (silt and clay will pass through).
