Mineral Scale of Hardness Set #2, With Diamond (Specimen Collection)
Mineral Scale of Hardness Set #2, With Diamond (Specimen Collection)
Relative hardness is one of the common ways to identify minerals. Minerals can be scratched against each other or glass plates to demonstrate relative hardness. This boxed collection contains nine number-coded specimens that represent the first nine minerals of Mohs 10-point scale of hardness, along with a tiny industrial-grade diamond (#10 on the scale). The set also includes a copy of the Mohs scale and instructions. (Glass plates for hardness testing are available in packs of ten; see Related Products, below.) Recommended for grades 5 through 12.
