Sound Identification

When looking for insects, birds, and mammals, one is sometimes more likely to hear their vocalizations than to see them. Knowing how to identify the various sounds of insects and birds will make any hike more interesting! For night hikes, we also offer the Echo Meter bat detection system. Receiver plugs into any device and produces permanent recordings and species identifications of bats in the area. Echo Meters add tremendous interest to night explorations, and the information collected can be shared with others such as citizen science programs collecting and analyzing data on bat populations.
