Everyone enjoys “finding their home” on a map, and once they do, awareness and understanding of their environment and geography can begin. Through the use of simple, fun, and imaginative hands-on activities, teachers and students can easily learn the basics of maps and navigation with this useful resource. From the classroom to schoolgrounds and neighborhood, students apply interdisciplinary approaches to orienteering. The exercises provided include math map relays, trivia question orienteering, watershed mapping, puzzle maps, long distance bike orienteering, contour games, photo orienteering, and others. Activities are recommended for ages 8 to adult.
