Tracking Methods & Activities
TRACKING - ADDING INTEREST TO INQUIRY. Ask a group of students if they would like to go out and track wild animals and most hands will go up. What teachers often don't realize is that this level of excitement can be generated in just about any environment—the principles are basically the same whether you are on safari in a remote land or in a schoolyard, backyard, or park. Tracking teaches students to observe, form hypotheses, analyze data, predict, refine hypotheses, and develop conclusions—basically the essence of the scientific method.
