Animal Signature Displays
Just as we learn to recognize different handwriting, we can learn to read the "signatures" left by wildlife. By recognizing animal clues, it is possible to determine what animals are found in any area. Acorn Naturalists unique set of 6" x 8" glass-topped displays provides examples of these animal clues, or signatures. Samples are field collected—for example, our squirrel cones are collected after squirrels have chewed them, worm castings from gardens, frass from where caterpillars have been feeding, and insect chewed leaves are collected and pressed. Scat and track replicas are cast from real samples collected in the field. These animal clue displays offer a perfect supplement for inquiry-oriented programs and curricula that support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
