This compact, lightweight Zoom Binocular can be used to locate subjects at lower magnifications and then quickly “zoom in” to view detailed features. With one of the shortest minimum focusing distances of any binocular (10 feet) the zoom binocular allows you to locate butterflies, dragonflies, birds, or other fast-moving subjects at close range and then adjust to higher magnification. The binocular features a field of view of 315 to 183 feet at 1,000 yards. A strap, protective pouch, and ocular lens caps are included.

What do those binocular numbers mean? Most binoculars are described using two numbers: this binocular is 5-15 x 17. The first numeral refers to the magnification, or “power.” An object seen through the binocular will be magnified five to fifteen times the size when viewed by the naked eye (depending upon the "zoom"). The second numeral refers to the diameter of the objective lens, which is the end of the binocular facing the object to be viewed. The larger the numeral, the greater the diameter of the lens, and thus the more daylight entering the barrel of the optic to illuminate the object. Generally speaking, the higher the number, the bulkier the binocular. This compact version has a 17mm lens. Binoculars are also described by “field of view.” This model’s field of view of 183 to 315 feet at 1000 yards means that when you are viewing objects 1000 yards away, you will have between 183 and 315 feet of horizon in your field of view (depending upon the "zoom").
