Tree Round Collection (Discounted Set Featuring 19 Species)
Made from tree trimmings and downed wood, these high-quality rounds range in size from 2½" to 4½" across by ¼-½" thick. Each is dried, baked, and smooth-sanded on one side to allow for clear reading of rings that vary in size depending on growing conditions and species. Rounds are a perfect, hands-on resource for introducing students to botany, forestry, and tree ring counting used to study climate change. All the tree rounds, with the exception of bamboo, are examples of dicots (with growth rings). Bamboo shows monocot sieve tubes. The collection includes Ash, Bamboo, Basswood, Birch, Cedar, two Fir (Douglas and Red), Hickory, Juniper, Maple, two Oaks (Coast Live and Red), four Pines (Gray, Ponderosa, Red, and White), Redwood, Sassafras, and Walnut.
